Had he stood and fought, civil libertarians would have rallied to his defense.
As he has behaved, he's nothing more - and perhaps considerably less, than a criminal shopping a book deal.
Nothing to honor in his actions.

Same reason many have been assassinated: he was feared.

Agree with crbutler. That's what some don't "get".

Snowden is a hero, he finally got the media to listen and bring this forward to the American people.

Google the Hepting V AT&T lawsuit. Mark Klein was a telecom engineer who blew the whistle on this illegal behavior in 2004? but no one listened. He and the electronic frontier foundation sued but congress passed retroactive legislation that effectively killed the lawsuit and legalized previously illegal behavior (IMO its still unconstitutional).

Snowden had the balls to ruin his future and family life to get this information out, I don't blame him for taking off as I seriously feel he would have received a show trial at best.

The sad thing is, spying on electronic communications is very easy to do, take a look at Fortinet firewalls for instance. For about a grand my customers can see see who goes to what website and how often and get it presented in a nice set of reports. Just think of what the NSA can do with all the billions in taxpayer funding it gets.
