Starbucks changing their mind on guns...

I don't think it was open carry as much as it was a political stunt that put Starbucks in the middle... all the forums and Facebook pages hosting events, etc. All Starbucks wanted to do was follow the laws of the state, they never supported nor denied our rights - they just went along with state laws.

I don't blame them, they've had enough of this tug of war BS.

They're not different in policy than Walmart, or any other business without a sign on their doors.

Agree to disagree. Starbucks black coffee is about as good as commercial drip coffee gets but I hear you on price. When I don't make my own coffee, I usually grab a cup at D'Brians. It is good enough and is a buck.

Check out DoubleShot in Tulsa, OK. I've had my brother bring batches up when he comes through or had it shipped right after a roast.

Showing at Starbucks with an AR-15 isn't going to win you any friends. Holding an open carry event specifically to agonize opponents isn't going to help you win the PR battle.

+1 I agree. I had no problems giving them my business when they stayed neutral, just never had to go out of my way to flaunt my AR there though.

New coffee mug I got this morning. Told the guy at holiday what had happened. Normally when you buy a mug for holiday you get the first refill free... He only charged me for the refill. I told him he didn't have to do that. But he wouldn't take no for an answer...

I'm just as offended by the fact that they don't have the balls to "ban" guns as I am by their stance. You can't have it both ways. Either back a side or stay out of it.

Also we should stop blaming our fellow gun owners and start blaming the real cause: leftist protestors and a sensational liberal media

Really? Because I think most of this is a result of poorly thought out activism by our side.

Or maybe they have the "balls" to not take a stance because they know it will get under your skin.

They don't have to pick a side, they don't want the political involvement - all they ever did was follow state laws. If state law allowed it, so did they - if not, they didn't either.

I disagree that they have to take a stance one way or the other.

I don't disagree that our side handled it brashley. But if the reason given is for the safety of employees and customers it was not our side that was the threat. Had the anti group not made it the issue they did we wouldn't be in this situation.
If we back down every time someone disagrees or is uncomfortable we will accomplish nothing and lose everything.

Since Starbucks was not threatening to restrict the rights of those who could legally carry because the antis antics, the responsibility for this policy change lies squarely, and solely on the shoulders of the open carry activists on this one.

It is possible to both not "back down" and not say anything at the same time...

The problem is that the antis at starbucks protests are the same people for the most part that are involved in the rest of the gun control effort. Even if you don't like OC, at least they are making a stand against the anti crowd. The enemy of my enemy is my friend and I think the gun community attacking its own over the issue of OC hurts all of us

A lot of gun rights supporters believe that open carry hurts us.
