Looks like they brought a knife to a gun fight.

the police shooting on 212 last Friday morning. Guy wouldn't drop knife, police shot him. Girlfriend picked up knife, same result. I suspect it was dual suicide by cop from two real losers.

Sounds like a modern day "Bonnie & Clyde"
Donald Trump got more fat women moving in one day than Michelle Obama did in eight years.

The link worked a week ago when I posted it very soon after the incident. Obliviously the road is no longer shut down. There for the article was redacted.

Yeah, they could have:
Not stole a car,
not ran after hitting another vehicle
stopped when the police pursued them
surrendered when the police stopped them
not picked up a knife
dropped knife when the police pointed guns at him/ her.

Would have ended much differently at any point.

Stupid: brandishing a knife at police pointing guns at you.
Unthinkably, SUICIDALLY stupid: picking up a knife after the police have just shot someone dead for brandishing it.

You mean like a taser?
The guy had a knife and with the winters in Minnesota, maybe a heavy enough coat that a tazer may be ineffective.

As far as the effectiveness of a taser, Minnesota Highway Patrolman Gabe Cornish found out about a week and a half ago.

"Trooper Cornish was surprised at the person's ability to continue to struggle despite their efforts to subdue him," the complaint said. "Trooper Cornish believed that the cycling of the taser was having no effect."

Here is a link to the article in the Mankato Free Press.

So a violent person with a knife, my first choice of defense tool would not be a taser.

This makes me laugh:

Hoffman said the couple were returning to Minnesota after visiting friends in Colorado and may have had a camping knife with them.

He said they were returning to face pending criminal charges with hopes they could then move on and start a new life together.

“They were two people in love looking to start their lives over,” he said. “They weren’t violent people. Something went horribly wrong.”

Hoffman said Serbus didn’t own a car or have a driver’s license and the couple had stolen gas to make the drive from Colorado to Minnesota. They were staying with friends in the metro area, he said. “It doesn’t seem right — two people killed over one knife,” he said. “It does open up more questions.”
