I wonder what 'sources' revealed he had a permit. It is unlawful for the police to do so.

So.................is the photo in the story the shooter or the shootee? Not that it matters to me but I hate reading articles that aren't clear- seems they are so eager to "get the news out there" that they forget to report it thoroughly.

Where are people getting these magical conceal and carry permits? Sorry, but with the Stewartville incident yesterday and KAAL reporting the same, I'm getting annoyed.

I wonder how that works when they aren't identifying the victim? (The victim, in this case, isn't the dead guy.)

Man slain in NE Minneapolis

Malone, 18, of Edina, was gunned down

http://www.startribune.com/local/minnea ... 27981.html
Police were called to the area on a report of a shooting and found the victim, who was later identified as Earl Lee Malone, 18, of Edina.

Maybe someday they'll report these incidents without assuming that the dead guy is the victim before they have any facts.

If the guy is dead, he is technically and by definition the victim even if his actions led to his own death.

Although I agree that most people assume that a "victim" is innocent, therefore a more neutral term like decedent should be used whenever possible.

so if the alleged shooter is not immediately identified by name the fact he had a permit is public info?

His name (birthdate & address) is out there. He was arrested and spent a couple (3?) days in jail. His name was published online in the jail roster.
