This is why weapons are necessary: firearms allow you to say "F*** You" to those who would punish and kill you for doing what they consider wrong. As long as what's considered free speech in some countries is considered sedition or blasphemy in others, weapons will be needed.

uhhm I'm not intellectually elite at all but isn't it a bit of a ''sweeping generalization'' to say there are no moderates(/even ''milds'') of ANY given group? isn't that the kind of logic that can be used to create seperation instead of unity, despite differences which is the goal of that one group?

The author of that article is claiming the comments shown are asking moderate muslims to apologize for what the terrorists did. But they are not. They are asking why moderate muslims are not speaking out against such acts. I would like to know that myself.

Cuz there's no such thing as a moderate Muslim. There are soccer moms, dads who share the car pool and the guy at quicky-mart who are just waiting to get the call. I'll wait right here while the "intellectual elite" among us prepare a condescending retort to the fact I just laid bare. They don't want to fit in - they want to infect.

My guess is this is just the start of many more of these episodes. The Netherlands, Germany, Britain and Norway all have problems waiting to happen as well. It seems that while the rest of western world is trying to become " more diverse and more tolerant" these people are pushing this agenda. Can You imagine the world in 1955? would happen if these people were trying to Islamify the west back then ? We have gotten too weak and lazy....

I'm struck again by how much chaos a handful of people can sow. One guy had southern California in an uproar; two guys shut down Boston; years later our entire country is still having repercussions from the decision by a dozen or so people to hijack some airliners. If someone was clever enough to conduct sabotage and assassinations, not as suicide by SWAT team, or political theater, or chest thumping, but as a planned military operation while staying under the radar, fifty or so people operating independently around the country could bring civil society to a standstill. I'm reminded of the novel Unintended Consequences, which postulated what someone working the smart way could do.

When a terrorist or bad guy kills someone, it's something that makes for great TV. When thousands of people are killed in car accidents, bathtubs, swimming pools or stapler accidents it's not as titilizing, despite the fact that the human tragedy is much higher.

9/11 was a terrible tragedy, but by enacting the patriot act, by reshuffling and creating an entirely new level of federal government, and by allowing ourselves to be subjected to strip searches at airports we have given the bad guys a greater win than they could have ever imagined.

We shouldn't ignore murderers and terrorists, we should hunt them down and kill them, but we shouldn't allow their actions to dictate the shape of the world we live in.

Appeasing these muslims does not make them accept us and try to assimilate. It empowers them. The worst thing that one can accuse a liberal of is being discriminating. They will go to great lengths to avoid this even if it means compromising their own safety.

Winston Churchill defined the appeaser as, "one who feeds the crocodile with the hopes it will eat him last." Churchill saw the appeaser as one who could at least recognize evil. The liberal of today does not know the difference. There is no such thing as black or white with them. There are only shades of gray.

These people are fanatics with the faith that they are doing gods works on Earth. There is no compromise, no bargaining, no negotiating. Until we understand this we will fail.
