Looks like the guy pled down to a lesser felony.

"Judge Greg Anderson’s sentence stayed a two-year prison term. His probation during those two years includes no alcohol or illicit drug use, and no possession of firearms."

Is the article poorly written as it seems to indicate when the probation is done he can once again possess firearms? My understanding is a felon is done possessing firearms unless some type of action by a court restores their rights.

That wording may just mean that possession of a firearm during probation is a factor that would revoke probation and send him to jail. Unlike other possible things he might do that would have no bearing on his probation. Doesn't mean he can have them again when probation is over though.

That being said, you could well be right that the author of the article has no idea. These days we certainly can't expect people in the media to be educated about anything. They just report things that they think will get attention (or advance liberal agendas).

Should have put a knife in the low life hand to show he was armed!

Kind of hard to do that when he's in a car fleeing the scene.
I will never apologize for being an American.

Maybe someone can explain why they didn't charge his accomplices with murder?

I thought that if a death occurs in the course of a felony, the accomplices could also be charged with murder?

Sounds like his two partners in crime (the dead guy) were convicted of felony charges also...shouldn't these two been charged just like the farmer? You know, play stupid games, win stupid prizes?

Easy, these were soon to be upstanding citizens who were just about to turn their lives around, the guy they convicted owned a gun, anyone who ones a gun needs to be prosecuted in this state...

Full sarcasm intended of course.

I don't believe Minnesota has that kind of legislation. There are many states that do (Texas comes to mind), but we do not. Kind of like SYG.

MN does have this in 609.19 but only under limited circumstances.
