I’ve been interested in sous vide cooking for a while. Seems crazy but you can make some perfectly cooked tasty looking meats using sous vide. Of course you have to sear it at the end as the outside of the meat looks nasty after cooking that way. Thinking about getting one of the home immersion cookers and trying it out.

FWIW, I don't think the DNR really wants to reduce deer population... they have a vested interest in having the maximum number of deer available, without destroying the habitat, to maximize the likelihood of hunters' success.

There’s a good chance of some of that.

If it was truly about managing the population then I’d think they could easily make some changes that would minimize the sporting aspect and maximize the dead deer aspect.

They could make it like Mississippi where the hunters just put a bait station under their stand so they can't miss.
