I'm not a troll, mall ninja or a keyboard commando. I do like the badge and I do respect it! Can't we all just get a long?

Wow, I've been saying for years that carrying a "less lethal" taser that feels just like your service weapon in your hand was a dumb, dumb, DUMB thing to be doing. In the medical field, we realized a long time ago that having nurses drawing up IV meds that do really different things to the patients from bottles that look almost identical was a good way to kill people, so we stopped doing it.

I would bet money that that poor SOB thought he was tasing the guy he shot.

:(
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

Isn't it recommended that those things be carried on the weak side or a thigh holster? I've never taken the time to scope out a local LEO to see if/how they are carried around here. While I'd really like to think the officer thought he had a taser out, I can't remember ever seeing a non-fictional firearm with an led display. The idea that the officer could have mistaken his handgun for a taser seems more and more like an idea originating on a blog and perpetuated by the talking heads. Sadly, this looks like a violation of Rule 3 to me.

edit:
Spokesman says the department has only had the Tasers for 3 months. Issue pistols are .40 Sigs.
