TL;DR

Summary?

He was a US Congressman from Ohio who was an outspoken critic of the Union during the Civil War. A military court banished him to the Confederacy.

OK. Not seeing much relation to the topic of this thread. Perhaps I'm missing some connection.

Politicians who were on the "other side" being prosecuted and removed from office.

I'm just wondering if we're ever going to reach the point where it becomes apparent that the elected officials who are enabling these criminals are doing so intentionally.

I don't think there's any doubt about it to those of us paying attention.

Except that those in power seem powerless to actually address it.

The thing is, the last time we went through this, we took damage both from the insurrectionists and from those who opposed them.

It's impossible to make a moral case for the Confederacy, but what the Union did to the structure of the American political system was far from ideal.

Seems that happened in the French Revolution too... Almost certainly not a good approach.

True, but having local politicians backing the revolutionaries isn't a good approach, either.

I'm seeing a noticable shortage of good approaches, here.

This is the democrat playbook coming from the top, pelosi! She is hoping the mayhem will stop trump from winning in November.

To late for that unless use of force is used to stop this BS. Democrats will throw money at them as usual to try to stop them, but won’t work. They would still blame trump for not stopping it.

This is not the "Democratic" playbook.
This is the classic Marxist - Communist playbook and tactics.
Most likely instigated by one of the three: China, Russia, Iran.

Its been done before - you might want to view this:

Mayhem won't stop Trump from winning. Trump will stop Trump from winning
