Officer Mitchell shooting/TPT Mary Lahammer on guns

PBS is anti-gun you say? And water is wet and the sun rises in the east?

Yeah.

In my opinion Mary Lahammer took the anti-gun bias of PBS to a new low on the Friday night, May 31, 2024, episode of Almanac. In a piece about the shooting of Minneapolis Police Officer Jamal Mitchell, Lahammer blatantly tried to get Minnesota Representative Paul Novotny, Republican, Elk River, to come out for more gun control. To his credit Novotny stood up to her as she tried with both hands and feet to stuff words into his mouth.

It's about a five-minute segment with Lahammer hammering Novotny about guns at the 3 minute 40 second mark with Novotny bringing up the point that we are not holding people accountable for their actions and are ignoring laws and sentencing guidelines already in place.

"What about the weapon?" asks Lahammer. "What about the gun? Because clearly there are too many guns out there. That's fair right? Bad guys are doing bad things with guns?"

I emphasized the word 'clearly'. If you listen to the video I think you'd agree Lahammer did too.

Novotny states bad guys do all kinds of bad things with a variety of things but Lahammer can't let it go.

"But the last two officer killings were guns, right? What do we do about the guns?"

Again, Novotny comes down on the side of holding people accountable and not allowing the bad guys to plea bargain their way out of their illegal actions.
