Aye-yi-yi! Dems want FEDERAL ban on armed association.

Postby Lumpy on Mon Jul 15, 2024 8:49 pm

Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., and Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md. introduced the “Preventing Private Paramilitary Activity Act,” aiming to federally prohibit private militia activity. All 50 states have laws prohibiting unauthorized groups from engaging in activities reserved for the state militia, but the proposed bill seeks to enhance federal enforcement.

But now they want to ban tactical training, and probably "military-grade" weapons while they're at it.

"Military grade" is a rather broad term. It might be defined as any firearm using ammunition used by the military. That would include, 22lr, 38 Special, 357 magnum, 9mm, 45 ACP, 12 gauge, 50 BMG, 5.56, 7.62, 300 WM, 338 Lapua. They might define military grade firearms such as direct impingement (AR's), bolt guns with Mauser type actions, pump action and semi-auto shotguns etc. That would constitute the vast majority of firearms in the USA.
My gun collection has killed at least five fewer people than the Kennedy clan has with automobiles, airplanes and golf clubs.

Maybe that would be the point? Ban everything but the weakest and feeblest fudd guns.

Personally, I think civilians should be allowed to anything up to the size of an assault gun, but anything bigger should be banned.

An assault gun:
