Rochester hosts gun violence prevention town hall amid ongoing debate
With a special session seemingly nowhere on the horizon, the Walz administration and the DFL party are putting on a series of gun violence prevention town halls.

In a town hall held on Friday in Rochester, its panel included:
  • Gwen Walz - Minnesota First Lady
  • Dr. Robert Hyde - Mayo Clinic Emergency Physician
  • Maggiy Emery - Survivor/Moderator
  • Simon Glaser - John Marshall Educator
  • Jane Peterson - Mayo Clinic Nurse Anesthetist
The panel answered pre-screened questions from the more than 125 constituents in attendance.

Someone should ask them how they plan to remove all the guns on the black market. Thats were allot of these firearms are in crimes. Bet they don't have an answer.

The gungrabber groups have argued for years that the problem goes back to gun owners. They say it's because of private sales, gun shows, and theft. In the case of Chiraq IL, they blame gun owners from other states.

They are well versed on that talking point and it always goes back to gun owners and the need to disarm them. They have used that very argument to pass "assault weapon" registrations, serial number laws (OMG ghost guns!), and licensing like IL has. So yeah, don't ask them that because they have used it for years to spin it back to you being the problem.

They don't want a world without guns, they want a world without gun owners.

Only justice, and not safety, is consistent with liberty, because safety can be secured only by prior restraint and punishment of the innocent, while justice begins with liberty and the concomitant presumption of innocence and imposes punishment only after the fact.
