Why couldn't they have said he had a starter collection as a person new to the hobby of collecting and had less than a single case of ammunition? It's every bit as accurate as the news story.

I have a sneaky suspicion that this may be an issue of context of the comment. If you just found out you lost your job because some other guy you don't like brown nosed his way into it what would you say? Is it possible you might say something like, I want to tear him a new A-hole or beat him to a pulp etc.? That's essentially a death threat. Does that make you a nutjob and should all of your weapons be confiscated for saying it? You're clearly a danger to the public having made threats of horrendous violence.

Yes the guy is clearly not the brightest bulb on the tree for saying something like that in front of police, but did he threaten to do it or just make an off-the-cuff remark that he'd like to? Also I don't find it that unreasonable that the guy is scared of what's happening around him. The media isn't exactly helping and things could actually get pretty ugly with respect to the economy, this isn't over by a LONG SHOT. I can see somebody that maybe is a little below average intellect being pretty scared with what's happening now.

Until I hear an actual recording of exactly what he said and the complete context it was made in I'm going to cut the guy some slack and not take the word of police as sacrosanct, they have a bad habit of lying about things on paper, sadly even about the most petty crap like traffic issues.

That person needs a bigger gunsafe. I noticed he likes to keep all mags full. Eventhough I don't doubt the veracity of claims about the spring not being impacted by being in a compressed or expanded state I just can't get over the feeling that I'm letting the magic smoke out of it by keeping them always compressed, also is there any risk over the long term of ending up with an out of round brass section that may not feed or eject well?

"Creep" or "Plastic Flow" is unlikely in metals unless they are subject to high stress and temperature. I doubt the magazine stresses are near high enough, and temperatures that would do that to brass would likely ruin the ammo. Personally, I would be more concerned with the the P-mags* shown in the picture, as plastic flow is how we came to call many materials, "Plastics."

*The P-mags I purchased, came with a snap-on lid that pushes the rounds down, unloading the pressure from the feed lips. I assumed that was to reduce the pressure on them and prevent distortion. I have no proof that it is a problem in P-mags, but it seemed to be the obvious reason for the the design.

they took him for a mental evaluation at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

So he got put on a 72 hr hold with a mental evaluation for terroristic threats. I am sure the resilts of the Phyc hold have a lot do with this story also. There is a check point supervisor at the airport who believes he flew on the USS Enterprise with captain Kirk and i would not be surprised if this was him. As of 12 years ago when i worked with him he was out there and he stayed on for years as the last time i was out there i saw him and wondered how they had kept him through the transition to the TSA.
