Something I think that was missed in this conversation. You are carrying illegaly, with a permit once you reach .04. So while yes you can carry in a bar, for most people 1 drink, and you are over the limit, and for the rest of us, 2 maybe 3, and your for sure over the limit.

The point is that regardless if you are in the bar or not with your gun, if your drinking and packing, your no longer legal.

Most politically correct prefer the term undocumented instead of illegal. :P

I'm certainly not and I'm glad the law wasn't written to keep you light weights in line over the more hefty folk :-)

Seriously, 1 drink with dinner is NOWHERE near .04 for me EVER!
1 drink nursed socially over a couple hours for a 100 pound male might be close but look around ... not many of our fellows are 100 pounds.

It seems both of those calculators are better than the rule of thumb from Driver's Ed 20 years ago: 1 beer per hour per 100 pounds == .10 BAC

Which led me to think 1 beer per 2 hours per 100 pounds would be close.

Aparently, I was wrong, though on the safe / conservative side :-)
From the calculators:
http://www.ou.edu/oupd/bac.htm
1 per hour for a 100 pound male = .04
1 per hour for a 160 pound male = .02
1 per hour for a 240 pound male = .01
http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/safety/mot ... ulator.htm
1 per hour for a 100 pound male = .026
1 per hour for a 160 pound male = .012
1 per hour for a 240 pound male = .004
2 per hour for a 300 pound male = .013

So yes, drinking slowly (socially and responsibly) even a 100 pound man can drink one drink in an hour and be below BAC depending on your calculations.

According to those calculators I can drink 3 beers in 1 hour and still be under 0.04.

I think it is important to remember that everyone's metabolism is a bit different and changes based on time of day and other factors. While these calculators are good guides, unless you have access to a calibrated breathalyzer, better to play it on the safe side.

Kind of like using a chronograph for load development or doing it by "feel" as one of our board members always puts it... ;)
