I'm curious what you all think about regulating intoxication at ranges or other shooting activities.

Government regulation -> dead-set against
Private regulation -> whatever the heck the owners want

ETA - to be more clear / precise -> private property owners can place any restrictions they wish regarding alcoholic beverages, intoxication, and impairment (due to prescription drugs, etc...) on their range. The smart ones will likely restrict it quite heavily, potentially banning it altogether, and I am 100% a-ok with that. Were I the private property owner in question, my rule would be something to the effect of, "Don't be an idiot, and if you are I'm kickin' you out, possibly for life."

How about the governing body of an organization like SASS? They have plenty of restrictions.

Just why the hell do you think that we need more laws and "regulations" created by gov entities.......
they ban smoking, but do not have the ballsack large enough to ban the sale of tobacco......duh....
how about getting rid of half of the stupid, nanny state laws and pass a law for Personal Responsibility.........

Recently, the congress critters screwed up and got rid of a stupid, emotional law (or if you would rather regulation)
and now here's a list of stuff the typical American family can legally carry into national parks this summer:
sleeping bag, toothbrush, change of underwear . . . loaded guns........

A "governing body" is not "the government". I don't know what SASS is, but I assume it is a large private organization, and therefore can make and enforce any rules it wants. The difference being that they do not have the power to regulate you beyond kicking you out of their events or the organization itself. They cannot take away your property, throw you in jail, or otherwise do the kinds of things that governments do all the time (legitimately or not).

Please tell me you see the distinction...

Where do you get that? I'm against more laws and regulations. I think we need to enforce the ones we already have. Read before quoting!

Sure I do. But I'd still like to know if anyone thinks carrying or shooting shouldn't be controlled at shooting events.

I read it correctly...what you all think about regulating intoxication at ranges or other shooting activities.....you should read a response before responding.....
your statement implies that there is a need for, not that there necessarily currently exists........besides you asked what do I think and I told you.....
and I fully agree and am also against more laws and regulations.....so have a cold beer, I am.......

Any regulation imposed by an entity that you voluntarily patronize, ie... a shooting range or other business, can make any rules it wishes if you don't want to comply with their rules then go give your business to their competition. We make choices, I agree on the personal responsibility idea. We could eliminate many of our laws if people only accepted responsibility for their actions.

As to government rules/laws. There should be as few of those as possible andn only deal with issues the several states cannot handle. Just as the tenth amendment says:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.
"The 1911 was the design given by God to us through John M. Browning that represents the epitome of what a killing tool needs to be. It was true in 1911 and is true now."
