a follow up, more info on the execution style shooting at the Holiday station off CR 96 & I35W

http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2014/08/1 ... -shooting/

my favorite quote from the article:

Friends told WCCO that Hoffman is Phillips’ ex-boyfriend and the two once co-owned the gay bar Lush together.
A Lavender magazine article about the opening described the two as “life partners” as well as partners in the bar.

Something tells me that the killer will meet a lot of new "life partners" where he's going.

Questioning

Its actually Queer, as stated above.. I'm waiting for more info on the shooting and see what the whole story was.. We had quite a busy Pink Pistols booth at pride this year and I'm waiting to see how this impacts our interest levels/gatherings.

Wasn't familiar with the term; I just googled it and found it both ways.

A news article quoted the victims ex-wife as saying there was a strained personal, and business relationship between the two.

I'm curious to see the general media/ civic leader reaction to this shooting, given the victim, perpetrator, and their relationship.
Many will want to make the usual anti-gun rants as is their wont in the aftermath of a shooting.
That this is not the stereotypical gun owner or relationship, there will be felt a need for sensitivities to be observed, that I suspect will cause the usual condemnations to be avoided.

Was all I could figure but better to ask than guess. Hope they catch the guy but I'm guessing he'll kill himself if he doesn't get away.

Since this doesn't fit the normal narrative I doubt they'll push the story that far in the media.

+1... not sure why the sexual orientation of the folks involved matters in any way?

It really doesn't, but the fact that they were a couple matters. Just like any other case, husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, it shows emotional attachment which could have influenced the situation.

Nope, doesn't matter at all. I'm trying to find the article I read about the "secrecy" of domestic violence in same gender relationships...its very under-reported.

Another reason for gays to own guns, eh goalie?

I recall reading several years ago, and I believe it was a policeman interviewed in the aftermath of a physical beating turned homicide / murder. It made sense when he mentioned that man on man domestic violence was far more violent and injurious.
For that reason and the possibility of gays being assaulted, I wonder of there is a greater, albeit under reported interest in firearms among gays.
