Man Indicted For Having Unregistered Shotgun
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ―
A Minnesota man has been indicted in federal court for allegedly having an unregistered 12-gauge shotgun, according to the Dept. of Justice.
Court documents say the gun was found near 27-year-old Willie Brown Jr. on Oct. 7, 2008. Officers said they found it during the search of a north Minneapolis home as part of a drug investigation.
The law requires the shotgun to be registered under its owner's name in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.
If Brown is convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison. He made his first court appearance Thursday, according to the justice department.
The Minneapolis Police Department and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives worked together in the investigation.
