Nigerian trying to blow up jet

Postby CraigJS on Sun Dec 27, 2009 10:12 am

You've all seen the story. US government making the big security "changes". Locally security is "stepped up".
My question is this.
What the hell difference do these security changes make if the rest of the world doesn't give a damn? He boarded the plane in another country, DUH! And we leave our safety in thier hands. (his father even tried to turn him into our security people, we played the PC game, geeze!)
PLEASE God help us!
Perhaps we need to take a few lessons from the Mosad and the country it helps to protect...
Be safe, CraigJS

and just how "effective" do they think some of the new rules will be -- you have to stay in your seat for the last hour without anything in your lap and no accessing your carry-ons... yeah, like that will do any good - will just irk everyone and cause a$$hats like this guy to just movethe time frame up to an hour and 15 minutes!

at least the passengers took action - although it's a good thing for his sake that I wasn't on the plane or the authorities might have gotten a list of names of everyone who helped him when and where by the time the plane landed!!! waterboarding hell - how about being stuffed into an airline toilet head first as an interogation technique? nah - too cramped of a space to work in - guess it would have to just be the plastic bag over the head...

I love how the problem was something strapped to the guy's leg and the security changes affect luggage...

I miss the days when flying with a buck 110 was the MO while smoking a pack of reds to pass the time and drinking scotch.

I listened to HSA director Janet Napolitano this morning on "This Week with George ...". She stated several times that HSA reacted quickly after they were informed of the attempt on the airplane. That does a lot of good. Being there to investigate the incident, not to prevent it. It really assured me again, never trust your security to the government or others (private security).

The only reason the plane did not blow up was the detonator failed, the passengers heard "firecrackers" and restrained the guy after his pants were smoking.

Oh, the guys father had reported him as being a terristic threat to the US Embassy months before. He was still allowed to fly.

Police do a good job to investigate after the incedent. They try to prevent attacks / crimes but are not close to 100 % effective. That is why most of us understand, ultimately, our safety is our responsibility.

Now, you will have to remove your underware to fly. (Where the guy reportedly had it hid.)
Because I care, I carry.

The problem as I see it is that in the prevention mode, it is expected that the police or government agency is expected to be 100% accurate in stopping only the bad guy's and that's not going to happen. If they can't show an actual crime was stopped then someone cries their rights are violated. I don't think anyone would want the alternative, for all crimes to be stopped before they are committed, then you would have no rights or freedoms.

You mean that you wouldn't support a "Minority Report " type of department in Homeland Security...................

I personally would opt for a reincarnation of America where traitors get shot and enemies get to die for their country.....
and a few Judge Roy Beans......."You want to discuss your innocence, we will do that at your hanging!"

West, in a civilian world you are correct but in the military world you only have to pose a threat to be prosecuted.

Then we team that with Hammer's soltion and we have winning combination.

Like I said I know a few folks over in the sand more than willing to carry out the sentences.

Believe me, I'm all for punishment deterring crime. In this case here, we should be hearing about his execution date, not what a wonderful person he had been at one time. Send him to Texas.

I made the comment and thinking in regards to CONUS. If you can't assimilate to our way of life maybe we should be helping relocate them to a country with similar beliefs.

mmcnx I do agree, but even our Military has way to many restraints. We need to fight our enemies in a way that they have no doubt that they will be hunted and eliminated on the spot, no matter where they happen to be.

"...lesser incidents had been reported on other flights arriving in Detroit,..."

Me thinks something big is about to happen-possibly and probably in Detroit... this one may be a distraction...seems the terrorist are in the testing phase of a probable attack some-place. Yeman might be the next battle field! And all DHS and TSA can do is reassure the public about the safety of flying and move to ramp up security measures at OUR effen airports, strip search OUR citizens, and disrupt OUR people travelling within OUR country.........237 terrorist events since 1972, all from the same region, most all against US, and we can not profile or arrest or threaten, or question or shoot the bastards.......that is your civilian world Westberg....they do not know that there is a war or who the enemy is...... ;)

Unruly Passenger Disrupts Another Amsterdam-to-Detroit Flight
Filed Under:Terror, Transportation

Another incident occurred today on the same Northwest Airlines Amsterdam-to-Detroit flight on which a terrorist suspect tried to ignite an explosive device on Christmas Day, but this time authorities said it was caused by a unruly passenger who did not pose a terrorist threat.

No one was hurt on the flight which was carrying 255 passengers.

The man was Nigerian, as was Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the 23-year old who unsuccessfully tried to ignite an explosive device on a Northwest plane on Friday. Amsterdam is an air hub for travelers from Nigeria headed for other destinations.

The flight crew became concerned when the passenger, a businessman, locked himself in the plane's bathroom for an hour. Abdulmutallab had also spent a long time in the bathroom before returning to his seat, complaining of an upset stomach and pulling a blanket over his head just before trying to set off his explosion. However, officials said today's passenger was legitimately ill.

"This raised concerns so an alert was raised," FBI spokeswoman Sandra Berchtold said. "The investigation shows that this was a non-serious incident and all is clear at this point."

The second incident on a Northwest 253 flight in three days came as Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and other officials sought to reassure the public about the safety of flying and moved to ramp up security measures at airports.

The TSA said, "The flight landed safely at Detroit International Airport at approximately 12:35 pm eastern time without incident. The aircraft has been moved to a remote location for additional screening. TSA and law enforcement met the aircraft upon arrival, the passenger is now in custody."

In Hawaii, where President Obama is vacationing with his family, White House spokesman William Burton said, "The President was notified shortly after 9:00 a.m. Hawaiian time of the incident regarding an unruly passenger on the flight arriving in Detroit by NSS (National Security Council) chief of staff Denis McDonough. The President stressed the importance of maintaining heightened security measures for all air travel and gave instructions to set up another secure teleconference briefing as soon as possible."

that is your civilian world Westberg....they do not know that there is a war or who the enemy is......

Some how this has gone south and you are misunderstanding my point or I guess I was not clear in my post.

Our heads of the US Government and now especially the resident of the White House are more concerned about calling us enemies of their way of thinking and that concerns me. Because I don't believe as he does, I don't want to be called a terrorist. My concern is the abuse of power because I don't believe in the ideas of current leadership.

237 terrorist events since 1972, all from the same region, most all against US, and we can not profile or arrest or threaten, or question or shoot the bastards.......

I have no problem changing any or all of them to standard operating procedures.

How many of these have happened with a US passported Individual, how many with a foreign national passported to nigeria, egypt, Saudi or yemen, just block them from flying, keep em off the planes.

just say, sorry, you keep letting extremists grown in your region, we will ban you from flying. fix it yourself.

once they stop, then we stop. make bacon the test, eat a bacon sandwich and you can fly.....

This is the point, our effen civilian .GOV, lead by the *resident, and the mighty anti-American stooges will cripple the Military, enslave the citizens, and let all the third-world sh!t hole despots have at us - any time, any place, including within this country - and all we are allowed to do is take off our shoes, kneel down, and bend over.....................
