An umbrella? Seriously?

Mall was evacuated and closed for more than two hours as a police SWAT team wearing body armor and carrying shields searched for an armed man

BURLINGTON, Mass. — A report of a man with a rifle inside a Nordstrom department store triggered a massive police response and the evacuation of a mall near Boston on Tuesday, but the man turned out to be carrying only an umbrella.

The mall, an upscale shopping center about 15 miles northwest of Boston with more than 185 stores, was featured in the 2009 Kevin James comedy "Paul Blart: Mall Cop."

There used to be three options for a man when it rained: get wet; carry and use a small umbrella designed to fit in a lady’s handbag; lug a massive golfing umbrella around (protecting oneself from sudden downpours without compromising on masculinity).

None of these options were ideal, hence the need to create a more slimline, yet still manly, version of the bulky golfing umbrella which was also easy to carry around (despite, naturally, not having a handbag).

The answer’s finally arrived in the shape of the Rifle Umbrella. With a rifle butt handle, a trigger to open it up, the end of a barrel (plus sights) at the tip and a sling to carry it on your shoulder like a real man: this one takes a pair to wear out in public and, even more so, to try and carry through customs....

Police questioned him and determined he was not a threat. Detectives are certain that the supposed rifle was actually an umbrella in a "sling-like case," Kent said.

I wonder if that is what the guy had??
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
