Hunting rifles are common in Norway, relatively easy to get a gun license. I've heard that his rifle wasn't totally legal though, whether this means he bought it on the grey/black market or that he modified it illegally, who knows?

90 minutes or so of this lunatic on a rampage killing people at will and NOBODY on the freakin island tried to defend themselves??? Kinda sounds like he ran out of ammo and just waited for the (inept) police to arrive! Unbelievable! I can't believe not ONE of the sheeple on the island tried to rush him when he was reloading, or at least throw a few rocks at him to try to disarm him. Nope, sounds like they tried to hide in tents and/or play dead. Didn't work out so well.

I'm sure they'll decide to try to prevent all guns from coming into the hands of the "wrong" folks, instead of just buying a couple of AR's for the good guys. That would be much too easy. Make the solution as complicated as possible, of course. There'll be a task force of smart people who have never been in a gunfight to decide.

I'm told by an exchange student that you need a license for even a hunting rifle, and supposedly, you can have only ONE rifle. There was probably no hunting on the island, so no one would have brought that. But when you've already got laws like that, it'll be hard to arrange good security. Whoever has the gun will be expected to a a damn specialist, the one everybody has to call to use the damn gun! Kind of like the police, who were over on the nainland, probably getting their first call from the island, and had to figure out how to get there and what stuff to bring along.

lookin' at it from a real wide angle, and admittedly not bein' overly informed on that British deal that brought about their "progress", I gotta believe this ranks right up there ... and, no offense intended, but I got no reason to believe the Norwegians (particularly thems still there) are any less "progressive" Image

[quote="onebohemian"]Religious extremism (christianity based this time although it hardly matters what doctrination the extremism was) and racism appear behind this.

Eighty percent of the Norwegian population is Christian. He is a member of the Liberal party.

You seem to be maintaining that you can't be a Mason and Christian at the same time?

That would surprise most of the Masons I know.

Yes, it's true. Freemasons rule the world.

OK, you can't be a Mason and believe in YOUR brand of Christianity. That probably leaves most other brands (other than Catholics) for the Masons.

Virtually ALL of the founders of this country were Masons, from George Washington on down; he was Master of his lodge. You could say that the American revolution was a Masonic plot!

In any case, Freemasonry isn't a religion, it's more of an ethics society and social service organization. Who do you think the Shriners are? Its' only religious requirement is a belief in a monotheistic deity of your choice (they don't ask you to specify).
