Drive-By Shooting Closes Lanes On I-35W

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ― Police shut down two lanes of northbound traffic on Interstate 35W after a drive-by shooting that left at least one injured, according to Minneapolis Police.

The shooting happened at about 3 p.m. Sunday on 35W near Lake Street. Police said at least one person was hit by gunfire.

One person was transported to a local hospital after being hit.

Two lanes of northbound traffic were closed in the aftermath of the shooting while police continued to investigate the incident, with the assistance of the State Patrol.

No arrests have been made at this time.

I drove past it soon after. Car had broken windows, many cops, K-9, etc.

Though Peterson would not discuss a motive or whether the victim was specifically targeted, he said the incident poses no threat to other drivers on the freeway.

"It's an isolated incident," he said. "This happens very, very seldom."

Didn't something like this happen last fall or fall of 2006 along 94?

Last night on channel 5 they said the there where several persons in each vehicle and that shots where fired from a shotgun. They have been wrong before, one witness seemed to indicate during the interview that it sounded like a pump shotgun, maybe they are going with that. :|

That is some prety good hearing considering that they were likely in moving vehicles.

My bet would be pistols at 20 paces.... Another bet is that I am glad I was nowhere near this when it happened - imagine finding yourself int he middle of a rolling gun battle at 65mph?
