Honoring gun-range law could be daunting, police sayMinneapolis Star Tribune
They say many outlets targeted by the measure, intended to help youth who want to finish their firearms safety programs, were largely not built with public use in mind. A new law will let young people complete their firearms safety training at police ...

But... what's the cost of a kid not knowing how to use a gun safely??

The West St Paul police range by me is an indoor two stall, 25 yd stuck in the far warrens of the basement. Trying to shoehorn 2 kids and 2 adults into that range (along with a police "observer") would be about the limit. The LE ranges in Edina and Eagan would be far more likely candidates.

While I understand the intent of the bill, I can also understand the reservations of the police.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

Ya...but the PPD chief's response was ridiculous. To paraphrase "If I have to do that I will just take my ball home with me" What a poor excuse of a public servant.

Last time I checked the police had no ranges. I beleive the citizens of various areas own some ranges for police use and those citizens can decide how to use their ranges at their option.

Hopkins police use a range built with money from the hopkins VFW. Later on they booted the vfw & public out, now it's for police only

Edina has the braemar range, 99% police only. Again on the gunowners dime

The police range in Jamestown, ND got shut down after some newb troopers aimed a little high and buried some bullets into the wall of a farmhouse a couple miles away
