I remember when they bought out Galyan's ... they discounted all the handguns like $100+ ... word was, they weren't gonna sell handguns, no more ... AFAIK, they never did!

At which, I purdy well wrote 'em off, ever since! ;)

If they don't wanna sell "deer rifles" and "duck guns" no more, way I see it, maybe now some Fudds'll set up 'n take notice?! ... maybe!

A better response from our side would be to write the CEO of Dick's an email or letter and explain that they won't get anymore business from us until they stop kowtowing to the MSM.

The news report I caught at the Y this morning said The weren't selling Modern Sporting Rifles anymore.
http://ktla.com/2012/12/18/dicks-sporting-goods-suspends-some-gun-sales/

Dick’s Sporting Goods is making some changes to their stores in the wake of last week’s tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
The retailer is pulling certain kinds of semi-automatic rifles off its shelves nationwide. Dick’s says it will also be removing all guns from its stores nearest to Newtown, Connecticut.

I've never seen an AR in Dick's. I know when they bought Galyan's they stopped selling handguns and didn't have any AR's. They may have very recently started selling them. As such, this is a symbolic move that smacks of a publicity stunt or damage control.

The move comes after reports that investigators were trying to determine whether the Newtown gunman tried to buy a gun from a Dick’s in Danbury, about 12 miles away.

Dick's more than just a name.
One more reason to avoid the place.

Just to clarify, the article I read indicated they pulled all guns off the shelves in Conneticut stores as a gesture of "respect"... and because the ATF is investigating if the shooter had attempted to purchase a gun there before the massacre. They've also pulled "sporting" style rifles (presumably those that can accept a detachable high capacity magazine, etc..) from all of their stores until further notice but I didn't gather they had removed lever/bolt action "hunting" rifles or ammo from the non CT stores... yet.

I've always gotten the impression Dick's corporate philosophy around guns was they are a "necessary evil," this really doesn't surprise me... though reminds me I have to go burn $40 in gift cards... I suppose I could pick up some new snow pants...

Mr. and Mrs. America turn in your guns.....

Just lay them all on the pile and move along. Here is your $5 walmart gift card for your contribution to keeping america "safe".

If you hide any, you will become a criminal and get locked up.

Don't we learn from the past?

They also have a surefire 100rd'rs at $289, and a case of loose 855 for $900.

I'm never spending money with them again.
