Idiot public school employee caught with gun in school

One of our staff members was in possession of a firearm in a locked locker. No staff members or students were harmed or threatened by this incident. There is no evidence that the employee was a threat to our school community. Staff responded immediately, followed proper security procedures and alerted police. The firearm was secured by police. The staff member was immediately removed from the school and placed on administrative leave.

Whew, Good thing. That darn assault weapon might have jumped out of the locker and gone off.
I will say with the rules and laws in effect, He should know better. I bet our Open Carry friends aren't OCing much right now. ;)

The woman, an educational assistant, has a permit to carry the weapon, but bringing a gun to school is against the law. The violation is a potential misdemeanor, but she was not arrested, the newspaper reported.

I voted for Ronald Magnus Regan The Great, twice in that school.

I'm toying with asking the principal for a 'letter' permitting carry just to get some undies in a twist. :o :? :) :D

Just saw on the news that she told another teacher (a "friend") she had the weapon, and the friend ratted her out to the principal. Stupid move. If you're doing something illegal, don't tell anyone. :hammer:

Funny how most comments ate opposing this lady.

Especially when the unofficial motto of this board is, "Concealed is concealed."

If she'd left it in her car, she'd have been legal. (Except, of course, for the risk it might have been stolen).

OTOH, if she'd been forced to bus to work (no car, or car in the shop), what alternative would she have had? Seward certainly isn't the sort of neighborhood I'd want to travel through, socially naked.

Of everything happening in local, big city schools, and with regard to the omni-present hazards, this doesn't really much concern me, beyond the judgement she used announcing she was armed.

Depends on policy. She's likely a union member. She might not get much support from within, but I won't bet against the general public being considerate, if not supporting of what she did. As of yet, she hasn't been charged with a crime.
The media is making a big deal about this but, but even the school admin acknowledges she was not attempting to be a threat.

Zero tolerance for students. I would think zero tolerance for staff.
