Biden: shotgun is more dangerous, easier to use than a.weapn

Postby GunClasses.Net on Thu Jan 24, 2013 4:24 pm

Sorry if this is a dup post; I didn't see it anywhere else. Joe Biden in this video explicitly says a shotgun is easier to hit a person with, and more dangerous than, an ‘assault weapon’.

Wow, what a GREAT move on the part of the Obama administration. Hey, let's let Biden speak off the cuff on firearms.

Especially the scary black shotguns. They're even more deadly.

Hmph, well, why not just spray paint it pepto-pink, and put a Hello Kitty sticker on it while you make it a belt fed shotgun?

Doesn't this go along with the video Fleet Farm created, putting buckshot against a semi auto rifle?

On another note: does anyone know how to embed the actual video into an MNGunTalk post, instead of the http link?

So, I'm really confused.... it's better to have a shotgun because you can hit more people? Or, are they trying to ban "evil assault weapons" because they're LESS dangerous than shotguns???? He (Biden) lost me.....

Shotguns are much harder to use effectively than a modern rifle.

Limited capacity, high recoil, and so forth...

It's not "easier" to use in the slightest.

Before we bash poor Joe simply for not liking EBRs, he is correct on many points in a typical in home SD shooting.

- A 12 or 20 shotgun with buckshot or slug delivers a much more devastating blow than an AR15(on a per shot basis/center-mass hit). Both will kill you. The shotty is more likely to put you down.
- A double or pump (like the 870 or 500) is much easier for the average person to point/shoot/operate under stress
- The "spread" of buckshot at 50 feet may put hits on a bad guy with an imperfect shot (at 20 feet, a miss is a miss)

I like my ARs as much as anybody. For social work in the home, the 870 rules 8-) .

We have to quit mixing the "effective" "ineffective" arguments here.

On any given day Feinstein's side says -- "No one needs an 'assault' weapons because they're too high-powered"
Next day, Feinstein's side says -- "A shotgun is more powerful than an 'assault' weapon anyways"

Either you're banning them because they're high-powered, or you're trying to take them away because they're not high-powered enough. I'm sorry, which one is it? I count Biden's arguments as cancelling out Feinstein's.

Personally I like the AR platform as an effective short to medium range firearm capable of throwing plenty of lead downrange, reliably, reasonably accurately, relatively quickly. There's no reason to argue that they're a hunting firearm, a target shooting firearm, or anything else. Its incumbent upon our opponents to prove why we shouldn't have them -- and they have yet to give a compelling reason other than they're scary.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

M1A. Quit piddling around with half-ass solutions. The M1A *is* the solution to every question, including your carry gun.

Thanks for the youtube link Grant,
I just passed it on to a couple of hunting buddies who have just been sitting on the sidelines with all this gun control stuff because all they both seem to hear is how all this will not affect their hunting guns
