Postby harryset on Wed Mar 06, 2013 11:47 am

The FBI and DOJ is being asked by the Southern Law Center t0 monitor these domestic terror groups, which have dramatically increased in numbers since Obama was first elected.

It's not the LAWS you necessarily have to worry about, it's how the laws are regulated.

I see the list, but not where they are asking the DOJ/FBI to investigate them.

What is the DOJ's response?

As far as I know, no response yet.

Pretty-much. I was surprised to see the Oath Keepers on there, but not at all now that I think about it. I think .gov wants agents it can count on to enforce the will of the state rather than uphold the rights of the people.

I was also a little surprised to see the John Birch Society on there also.

River Boater: Why were you surprised to see the John Birch Society on the list? They used to be a pretty hard-core right wing group. I remember going to a picnic with my father when we lived down in Missouri -- must have been 1964 or 1965. It was a a "private" fishing lake that were common there -- stocked with catfish and you paid to fish there, had picnic spots, a playground, and camping. Owned by a man named Kernoodle.

At any rate, Dad didn't know it was a JBS meeting to help recruit Minutemen to the cause. He was pretty naive, in retrospect. He was a WWII vet, but he wasn't about to join a militia. I remember a whole bunch of rifles laid out on a picnic table, and for joining the Minutemen that day, you could take your pick. We left as soon as it was polite to do so, but Dad was fairly shook up about it, and my dad was never shook up about anything. It felt a little like a secret meeting to me, and it probably was. Fear of communism was pretty big back then. Looks like it is becoming fashionable again......but the John Birch Society at one time had some pretty negative views on minorities and civil rights to the point of being extremist....maybe they have changed their spots, but I got the idea the JBS and the Klan had something in common.

Seeing the reference to the JBS, I couldn't help but think of this....

He jumped up and said,
"Now just wait a minute, Jim, you know he's lyin', I been livin' here all my life.
I'm a faithful follower of Brother John Birch, and I belong to the Antioch Baptist Church
And I don't even got a garage - you can call home and ask my wife!"

I don't know. I (obviously) don't know a lot about them. I always thought they were more of a think-tank type group, like Cato.
