I've been following it too. The media will spin this. I'm curious as to why the anti gun nuts always bring up Newtown, the Colorado theater shooting, etc. and don't mention Nidal Hasan when promoting their agenda.

Wasn't there a story out last week that they were looking for this guy because he announced that he was planning to shoot up Ft. Hood? Real good detective work there...NOT. The guy STILL got in and shot up the place. Geeeezzzzzzz, even with ample warning, the military can't protect it's soldiers from ass hat lunitics.

From the OP link:

Another incident of workplace violence I'm sure.

I was stationed down there for 10 years. Very large base. Was down there when the libbys shooting happened. Allot of real estate to look for someone. Dam media frenzy will blow all of this out of proportion.

The 'Commander in Chief' is very concerned that this is BuzzKill for the alleged 7.1 million alleged Obamacare signups.

Earlier, Fort Hood ordered everyone at the base to "shelter in place." The order was sent on the base's Twitter feed and posted on its Facebook page.
The 1st Calvary Division, which is based at Fort Hood, had sent a Twitter alert telling people on base to close doors and stay away from windows.

Twitter and facebook is how we communicate with our soldiers?

An Iraq War veteran being treated for mental illness opened fire at Fort Hood Wednesday, killing three soldiers and injuring 16 before killing himself, in an attack the same base where a 2009 shooting left more than a dozen dead, authorities said.

Milley said he did not know any motive for the incident, but the shooter, who had served four months in combat in Iraq in 2011, had "behavioral and mental health issues" and was being treated for those. The gunman had been undergoing an assessment to determine whether he had post-traumatic stress disorder, Milley said.

Why do we have gun free zone military bases? I would think that arming 10 to 20 % of serving personnel would put an end to this lunacy. We depend on these people to defend our country but not themselves or each other.

Ft Hood Shooting of yesterday:

Of yesterday's shooting victims, all were military, and none were armed and
able to defend themselves, nor each other, from a gun-wielding, murdering
lunatic who apparently didn't get the memo about the Base being a "
Gun-Free Zone!"

As soon as the suspect was confronted by military police, he committed
suicide, typical MO for active murderers.

The three-star present at the subsequent news conference made much of the
fact that the suspect was "engaged" by military police, but we never get to
know what theat means. Did MPs so much as fire a single shot at the
suspect? The general wouldn't say.

He did say that there was "no indication of terrorism." Of course, they
said that same thing about the first Ft Hood shooting in 2009! Immediate
denials of terrorism are apparently mandatory. They say what they wish were
true, not what is true, much like the main-stream media!

He continued that he "... didn't think soldiers should be allowed to carry
concealed on-Base" Yet, he failed to indicate if that arbitrary
proscription includes his own bodyguards! He went on to assure us all that police
are there to provide "protection," however apparently not enough for the
dead and wounded in this case, eh?

Since the first Ft Hood shooting, and subsequent shootings at the Naval
Base, and others, nothing has been done. WJC's gun prohibition on military
bases remains in place, and apparently will indefinitely, no matter how many
innocent, defenseless soldiers are murdered!

Omar Bradley, Dwight D Eisenhower and George Patton, who led by example,
carried sidearms routinely. Conversely, unarmed Obama-era generals choose to
protect their asses and careers, not lives of troops, as we see.

I wish I didn't have to say it!

"One legislator accused me of having a nineteenth-century attitude on law
and order. That is a totally false charge. I have an eighteenth-century
attitude!"

Reagan

John S. Farnam

For those that don't know him John was a decorated Marine Lt during the Vietnam era, earning 3 Purple Hearts among his ribbons. The next 16 years he served in the Army reserves retiring as a Major. After his experience in the USMC he spent 40 plus years as a part time LEO and full time trainer and is still spending his time and efforts to provide real world, high quality training

My comment

I had a carry student, who was a Sgt in the reserves, join the Army and get himself selected for Ranger training. He was a Ft Hood during 1st shooting and about 3 months later sent me an email. He said that about a dozen always armed fast response groups had been formed to respond to any future shootings. Led by experienced NCOs, of which he was one, (most had earned Ranger tabs) these 4 person teams had loaded mags and were always to be armed, with quick access to their M4 if needed. He did not seem to be the type to BS me, and besides if you can't train and trust NCO's and Officers to carry a loaded weapon we are in sad shape.

I blame Clinton, Bush and Obama, because as Commander in Chief any one of them could immediately order selected trained officers and NCO's to be armed. Seems so simple, but it does not fit the agenda, certainly not of the ONE, who knows what is best for all of us.
