Holder’s Latest Scandal: DOJ Now Pressuring Banks to Refuse Service to Gun Stores

Operation Choke Point also targets other legal businesses for political reasons

For the past several months, the U.S. Department of Justice has been pressuring banks to refuse service to businesses the DOJ is targeting politically, such as gun stores, in a program entitled Operation Choke Point.

Corrupt Attorney General Eric Holder has been involved in no less than 16 scandals.

Under the program, the DOJ, headed by Attorney General Eric Holder, is attempting to shut down various legal businesses, including firearm dealers, dating services, purveyors of drug paraphernalia and pornography distributors, by coercing financial institutions to close the bank and merchant accounts associated with these businesses.

Back in March, a Florida couple who own a gun store received a letter from BankUnited informing them that the bank was closing their business account, which they opened seven years prior, and gave them three days to transfer their money elsewhere.

“I was very angry,” Elizabeth Liberti told the Miami New Times. “They were very inconsiderate. We had all our credit cards going through that bank.”

“All of a sudden, we had to run and find another bank to keep our business going. We shut down for two weeks, and they wouldn’t even tell us why.”

BankUnited finally gave them a reason some time later.

“This letter in no way reflects any derogatory reasons for such action on your behalf, but rather one of industry,” wrote branch manager Ricardo Garcia. “Unfortunately your company’s line of business is not commensurate with the industries we work with.”

And it isn’t just gun stores that the Justice Dept. is targeting.

OK Smarty Pants....here's Forbes'

http://www.forbes.com/sites/thomasbasil ... overnment/

Documents inadvertently leaked by the Department of the Treasury from a briefing on Operation Choke Point clearly show that the Administration is looking to significantly impact legal businesses because it believes the public needs to be protected from industries and customers deemed more likely to engage in criminal activity. According to the Administration, those industries interestingly include ammunition sales, gun sales, home-based charities,

gambling, pharmaceutical sales, short-term loans, raffles, Amway and Mary Kay-style sales businesses, and credit repair services.

The Administration is refusing to answer any Congressional inquiries about Operation Choke Point.

Then there’s the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, once headed by Elizabeth Warren, also now a key cog in the Obama Administration’s effort to regulate industries and personal decision-making. The CPFB is rapidly becoming, next to the Justice Department, the Administration’s agency of choice for extending the reach of government into our daily lives and stretching the limits of the law. Unfortunately for Americans, this little-known agency is housed as part of the Federal Reserve so it exists outside of the direct pervue of Congress. How convenient for the President.

As the Washington Examiner’s Richard Pollack recently reported, “they assume all businesses are predatory,” which allegedly gives them the ability to collect up to 96 separate data points from more than 1 billion credit cards. That’s right – your government is now keeping tabs on how you spend your money.

I do not know if Holder and the DOJ is preasuring banks, but I have a tax client who owns a retail gun store and his bank informed him they would not do business with him on short notice. He was forced to go out and find another bank. Would not suprise me in the least if it was preasure from the administration!

Banks can refuse service but not photographers. :hmm:

Don't pass up info simply because it comes from Infowars. After the Infowars leak, the Ranch standoff pretty much ended. Yeah the guy can be a nutjob, but that doesn't mean you should ignore EVERYTHING that's on his site. It's like how liberals go, "Oh, FauxNews huh? Pass."

So many things to be outraged about. So little time.

The multitude of "information outlets" that now exist must compete really hard for our attention. The more outrage they can muster, the better their chances. Alex knows his audience. His ongoing existence is proof that he knows his marks.

Hmac hit the nail on the head. I haven't heard of any photographers (or bakeries for that matter) who have been prosecuted for refusing service to gun stores. What do you think would happen to a bank that refused service to a gay couple? My guess is it wouldn't be pretty.

was a news story out there recently (think CNN but not sure) about Chase closing accounts of know porn actors and actresses (very lost terminology) having accounts closed. One would think a large bank wouldn't give a rats behind (sorry Rodentman) about where their money comes from.

Followup: googled after posting and found this http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nationa ... -1.1772348 and MANY more.

Even that may be tough since the contracts always state that they can drop you for any reason.
