Houston (TX) resident dies in shootout with home invaders

A 36-year-old man died in a shootout with suspects after they burst into his home in southeast Houston Monday night.

The gunfire erupted about 9:15 p.m. in the 4600 block of Kingsbury near Wayland, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said Michael Jerome Hilliard and his girlfriend were in their residence when two men armed with guns forced their way inside. Hilliard grabbed a gun and exchanged gunshots with the suspects in the front of the home and outside in the front yard.

Police said Hilliard was wounded several times......
