A South Carolina man died Wednesday morning after police say he asked one of his friends to fire a gun into a bulletproof vest he was wearing, Fox Carolina reported.

The bullet reportedly missed the Kevlar vest and hit Blake Wardell, 26, in the chest. Friends performed CPR, but Wardell bled to death in the garage, the report said. The death was classified a homicide. The bulletproof vest was about 10 years old and the weapon was called a small-caliber gun, The State reported.

We need to remove all warning labels and just let the world sort itself out.

.223/5.56 could technically be considered "small caliber" but you'd be an idiot for thinking a 10yo vest can stop a rifle round anyway. Could be a .17 hmr or a .22 mag too.

It's pretty much the same story details around the internet, however some articles are saying:"...small caliber handgun...".

Vest did not fail. The shooter failed to hit the vest.

3 lives.

1. The guy that died.

2. The person who shot him.

3. The girl who originally admitted to shooting him who is now an "accessory after the fact of a felony" for lying about having shot him.

So they never thought of testing it out on an actual dummy torso first? Then Scooter the sharpshooter misses? I am guessing there was a bit of "Hey y'all, hold my beer and watch this" at play.

I'm skeptical now. After reading tonight that the girl lied when she said she was the shooter and another male was arrested, I have my own theory. Anyone else think the guy was murdered? And the vest was put on afterwards?
