The first call of shots fired came in at 1:20 a.m. local time, university spokeswoman Cindy Brown told CNN. The incident occurred in a parking lot adjacent to a residence hall, Brown said.

Based on the time and location of the incident, I'm going to go out on a limb and say this probably isn't a case of a disgruntled student/staff/faculty. If I were a betting man, I would say this is a case of a nefarious ne'er-do-well taking advantage of a "target rich environment."

I shouldn't be entirely shocked, but when I heard the news on NPR this morning it was of course of a "school shooting in Flagstaff AZ!" Followed quietly by a few qualifiers, like it happened in a parking lot, at 1:20 in the morning...in a gun free zone (oops, they forgot that part).

This was more than likely a robbery, or a domestic altercation gone bad - but of course since the wheel of angsty causes to be outraged about on Facebook has once again landed on banning guns to save the kids this will inevitably be chalked up as "another school shooting."
