I'll have to admit: As a PTC holder, this case has me a bit spooked.

And given Joe Olson's experience, you have a right to be.

Seems simple to me. Keep your hands on the steering wheel until told to do otherwise and you won't get shot.

Tough to reach your license with hands on the wheel. I guess I'll have to get that out ahead of time and have it prominently displayed on the dash.

Don't be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while carrying. You may be able to comprehend what's being sead to you. And STFU.

Not excusing the officer at all and if hands were on the gun he did what he should, but he probably overreacted. I do think Mr. CASTILLO didn't follow instructions maybe because he was a little too comfortable with getting pulled over and/or high on pot.

I wasn't in.the court room or on the scene so only my opinion. I assume transcripts will be made available.

Anyway you slice it, the trouble makers will only hear what they want to hear. Be safe out there.

Why is the only advice being given to the guy who is dead? Why no advice for the cop who shot a permit holder?

His permit is irrelevant to the matter at hand. Castile said he was carrying, the LEO pulled his gun and told Castile not to reach for it, several times. Castile reached for something, but he reached. Who was his instructor?

This is my thought on it. If he indeed needed to reach for identification he needed to do it under the direction of the officer.

Rodentman, the sequence of events you wrote are a little out of order. Read the transcript from the dashcam footage, and Yanez's partner's statements after the shooting; he heard the shots before he knew Yanez had pulled his gun.

Given his behavioral choices and habits, I find no more of a connection or relevance to Castille because he was once issued a carry permit than I do because we both have a drivers license.

When or how fast the officer pulled his gun is irrelevant to if he had a reason. The jury decided he did.

There's people trapped in cars, and the media describes it as 'peaceful'.
