Off-duty cops still want to carry at Vikings games.

When a cop is off duty, he should not be allowed to violate the private property rights of the rest of the population. It's not about training, or capability, or some abstract notion of police are the protectors of everyone else. It's about rights.

The arguments posed in this bill evidence the belief that police officers should have the right to do things the rest of us can't, and can also violate the wishes and property rights of everyone else, not as part of their official duties, but anytime they want, because they're cops.

This attitude should disgust anyone who cares about individual rights. It will most likely pass, but it's wrong, and those who support it are wrong.

And for the record, if my taxes go to pay for a facility, I expect to be able to exercise my right to carry there. Those who don't like it, pay for it without stealing from me.

I'm pretty sure that HR 218 would already exempt qualified retired and active LEOs from state and local carry laws, and thus allow them to carry to games

I'm not saying I agree with that, just putting it out there

Nope HR 218 does not give "us" any more rights, except that we are 50 state "good to go" still must follow ALL Permit laws in each state!

Looks like you're right about that, I stand corrected!

Easy solution: send the Wilf's a bill for our part of the stadium and get out of the deal.

:rotf: Shiiiiiiiiit.... Dayton didn't even read the contract.

Wilf's?

Wilf- life-form that tries to motivate its companions toward ethical behavior.

IF the arena was built using ANY public funds then how do the "Owners" get to decide that Cops can't carry on "their" property. It really galls me that the wealthy owners of teams get public funding to build the arenas for them and they they run it as if it was totally theirs.

Unfortunately, the deal was probably written such that it is totally theirs. Also, I'd amend your statement from "Cops" to "people."
