Oh, I misread this as "kicked OUT OF organized crime", as in rampant sexism in the cartels. NM :D

jdege, thanks for sharing this story! The pictures are great. I found a longer article from 2011 when they first took a stand.

[During the first days of revolt] residents gathered around as many as 200 bonfires set up at every intersection in town to prevent the loggers from retaliating.

pretty poorly written article with a "Clickbait" headline.

unfortunately for many parts of the world, the police and politicians represent the centers of crime and corruption.
