Remington Seeks Financing to file for Bankruptcy

Postby BigDog58 on Fri Feb 09, 2018 6:15 am

With nearly $1 billion in debt and credit agencies warning that their capital structure is “unsustainable”, firearms and ammunition manufacturing giant Remington is looking for financing to fund business operations during bankruptcy proceedings. An exclusive report from the news agency Reuters also states that Remington’s sales dropped 27% in the first nine months of 2017 resulting in a $28M operating loss.

What a shame to see another once great company run into the ground by investors willing to abandon quality for short term profits.

Maybe they’ll divest Marlin and MLAGA.

^^^^

Is there anything left of the old Marlin (other than a name)?

Bummer. Hope someone buys it out of bankruptcy and restores it to what it once was.

I can't help but feel like this is a financial attack on gun rights in a way...

Thought I had bought enough Remingtons to float their boat for quite a while.

Would hate to see them falter further, and hopefully recover to be able to Make America Great Again.
Was looking at some of my late 70's and early 80's Remington Target rifles last night and appreciating the quality they once were.
May use my 7RM for ELR and my heavy barrel 25-06 Varmint Special for 500 yard competitions, .and try again to get my Ruger Mark 2 25-06 to shoot better than Minute-of-Side-of-Barn it currently shoots. If I need to rebarrel the Ruger, I will go for 280 Ackley Improved 28-30" in 1:8 twist cut-rifled SS K&P barrel shooting 195 grain ELR-type projectiles.

Just curious, why K&P?

I'm not answering for OldmanFCSA but I believe it may be due a few factors.

1- We know him personally and shoot with him in FCSA Matches
2- He makes quality cut rifled barrels
3- He will make us just about any twist rate, amount of lands and grooves, and length we desire
4- His pricing is very good
5- His customer service it stellar
6- His delivery time is usually weeks, as opposed to months

OldmanFCSA may add a few more reasons

PS: I'll be ordering a new 50 Barrel later this year from them.

I know Kenny & Priscilla Johnson, and he makes specials for me, cut rifled precision SS barrels to my specification with 4 week delivery or less.

BigDog58 hit the high points. Kenny is a great barrel-maker and his prices are very competitive.

Those are all good reasons. ;)

I was just curious, as I've never heard of them before.
