Wait, do they even let me in an REI? I thought you had to be a member to shop there? I have no time for paying for memberships to shop. I can get it online cheaper.

At one time it was a genuine co-op, selling unique equipment. Now it's just a niche big box. No real specialization, or skilled help. The guy in the paddling Dept was probably in bicycles last week, and will be working overpriced sunglasses next. Membership gets you a 10% merchandise dividend on non-sale stuff, which makes it a little attractively priced. Still nothing there that can't be found somewhere else.

Maybe REI should also recommend its members boycott any wild lands supported by the Pittman Roberson Tax.
