Oklahoma state senators meet [sic] late on Wednesday night to approve a bill that allows adults to carry guns without a license.

The Tulsa World reported that the measure passed 33-9 on a vote just before 11 p.m. after it was added to the agenda late in the afternoon.

[...]

The bill now heads to the desk of Gov. Mary Fallin (R).

Will the governor sign it?

I don't know enough about Oklahoma politics to know if the R should make that a slam dunk or not. Plenty of people self proclaim R status but live in the D world.

She has a good record with respect to gun rights, but that doesn't always have predictive value.

If so, that'll make how many "Constitutional Carry" states now? And yet we're not shooting one another over parking spaces.

I guess the people of Oklahoma are not buying the "Parkland changed everything" BS.

I realize it isn't a done deal yet, but your count doesn't include Oklahoma.

It will, within a day or so of the governor signing the bill.

Oklahoma Governor Faces Decision on Gun Carry Without Permit
Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin is not saying whether she will sign legislation that would allow adults to carry handguns without a permit in spite of concern expressed by the deputy director of one of the state's top law enforcement agencies Thursday that it could erode public safety.

How can people even make that argument with a straight face any longer? Aren't there enough states that implemented permitless carry to show there are no noteworthy issues coming from it? Just like there are enough states with shall-issue carry permits and permit holders to show that permit holders aren't causing crime spikes. Jeez, people, figure out a new argument or STFU and accept that you were wrong.

The correct response to this should be that if that is the case law enforcement should turn in their guns. Practice what you preach.

Or the response to Mr Public Safety could be that if the public felt safe then this wouldn’t be an issue. Maybe this person is a failure at their job and they should go find more suitable employ.
