NYC Broadway professional arrested for 3D printing gun

Postby Randygmn on Sun Sep 23, 2018 8:52 am

And so it begins. A prop maker for the Broadway play The Lion King was arrested for using his 3D printer to manufacture a pistol at work. Literally the worst jurisdiction this could happen in. Initially they threw the book at him with charges, but reduced it to a lower felony. Had this been a guy all tatted up and an American flag waving Patriot, that wouldn’t have happened. Still, I wonder if they’ll make an example out of him for the first national prosecution.

I’d be willing to bet one of his good leftist friends turned him in.
I will never apologize for being an American.

Whole thing seems staged, pun intended. Camo coat in NYC? Only the homeless.

So trying to understand ny law. I get that they are socialists to the point that make Russia look right wing but if he has a firearm license why can't he print it?

He has no license to own or posses any firearms.
He’s got 3 problems. First, he’s not licensed in NYC to own or posses a firearm. That’s problem number 1. It appears that he admitted that he printed this firearm for his licensed (upstate NY, not NYC, although it doesn’t matter)! brother. That’s problem number 2, and it’s Federal. Your permitted to manufacture your own firearm, for your own personal usage. That firearm can’t be sold or gifted if that’s the original intention. It appears he admitted it was. Problem number 3? He’s never read the 5th Amendment.

And here’s the rub.... illegally possessing a firearm within NYC limits is a mandatory minimum of 3 years in state prison (and there’s no possibility of judicial discretion), regardless of criminal history or the lack thereof. He also admitted to possessing a rifle in his home. If his residence is in NYC, that’s an additional problem, which could be compounded by the specific style of rifle. If it’s a semi auto with a detachable magazine that holds more than 10 rounds, he’ll be charged for each magazine he possesses, along with it being an assault rifle. If he possesses any ammo, that’s also additional charges. All of that is going to yield a minimum of a decade in prison if it all goes sideways for him and the DA feels like the city of New York has been aggrieved. And the final kick in the nuts? The feds can pursue an additional 10 year sentence for illegal manufacturing of a firearm that was admittedly not for personal use.

The real lessons here are-
don’t pursue a career that is infested with leftists,
don’t live in NYC if you believe the Second Amendment is still relevant and want to exercise the rights therein,
And finally.....ALWAYS keep your mouth shut and demand an attorney if you ever are detained by police.

Having just gone through the adventure of printing a liberator myself...... The only person they saved was the propmaker's brother....

First hand experience with video below

https://imgur.com/a/njdvg0e

This was printed out abs with 100% infill.... once I replaced the cross pins with bolts we were able to get it to hold together during firing.... with about 5-6 light strikes prior to ignition. If I had to pick between it and a pointy stick... I'd take the stick. Not a viable weapons system.
In Soviet Russia program executes you!

Got it, so the real problem is that the 2nd amendment does not apply to NYC in any capacity.
