Because anyone who is not considered a flight risk has the right to post bond until their trial date.

Because outside of exigent circumstances, it’s codified in our Constitution.

Seems to me being a felon in possession of a firearm would be exigent circumstances.

You really wouldn't like living in a country in which the government can summarily declare someone guilty of a criminal offense, based on what a prosecutor thinks is sufficient evidence.
