BREAKING: Police Officer In Critical Condition After 'Mass Shooting' At Chicago's Mercy Hospital

A Chicago police officer is in critical condition and "multiple" victims are being taken to area hospitals after a suspected mass shooting at Chicago's Mercy Hospital.

"Multiple" people were wounded and at least two people are dead, including the shooter, according to Chicago's NBC affiliate, after gunfire broke out outside Mercy Hospital and in the hospital's lobby shortly after 3 pm CST. The shooter, who was armed with what initial reports called an "assault rifle" was reportedly shot and killed by police.

Interesting that they had to take them to other hospitals. You’d think they’d all be able to handle gunshot wounds in Chicago.

From what I have seen, he used a hand gun.

One officer got shot in his holstered gun.

That officer passed.
That’s why it’s called Chiraq.
All these lives destroyed because the female victim broke off the engagement with the shooter. Folks today just don’t know how to deal with personal problems without violence. I blame the parent(s) and participation trophies that reinforces an entitlement mindset.

Hospitals are like doctors- they have their specialties and are of limited use outside of that area. You don't go to a stroke center if suffering internal injuries from an auto accident, you go to a trauma center. Chicago Mercy specializes in heart, stroke, and cancer treatment so would not have the staff, equipment, and experience to handle a trauma patient- let alone a number of them.
