How Banks Unwittingly Finance Mass Shootings

A New York Times examination of mass shootings since the Virginia Tech attack in 2007 reveals how credit cards have become a crucial part of the planning of these massacres. There have been 13 shootings that killed 10 or more people in the last decade, and in at least eight of them, the killers financed their attacks using credit cards. Some used credit to acquire firearms they could not otherwise have afforded.

Those eight shootings killed 217 people. The investigations undertaken in their aftermath uncovered a rich trove of information about the killers’ spending. There were plenty of red flags, if only someone were able to look for them, law enforcement experts say.

They want credit card companies to monitor gun purchases and report them to the police.

Merry Christmas NYT

I'm pretty sure that most mass shooters have, at some time, have used the services of a dentist.

Guess what, they all were people, get rid of people and look at all the problems we solved. Global warming, immigration, mass shootings, hurting others feelings all solved.

CASH IS KING. Just saying. The “things” I buy on line have to be bought with a CC. Only one firearm has been bought with a CC sense 2005. Surprise buy. Now a lot of “equipment” has been purchased with a CC so there is a bit of a paper trail.

Ok, I'll bite, what is a surprise buy? It just jumps in your cart and you don't notice it until you already checked out?

I buy everything with a credit card. I get benefits that I don’t get when using cash.

I buy a lot of stuff on line using my Cabela's card. I usually use the CC for anything over $100. I don't carry much cash. I use the points for reloading supplies. Works great.

The stinking NYT should reject subscriptions paid by CC.

To much business has become political and it seems that the Left wants it even more political. I see this going really bad places. :(

I see this as not having their expected results.

I see the left trying to use companies like these to do what they have been unable to do through government. To shut down dissenting speech and control peoples lives.
