Probably depends on how many weeks he gets.

I would expect he will get a fairly long sentence. Having the jury return so fast and he was an officer probably will not help him.

Oh and I would think MPLS probably wants to bury this as deep as they can to make it go away.

For some, black Minneapolis officer's conviction no surprise
Amy Forliti at Associated Press wrote:It's rare for police officers to be convicted after asserting they fired in a life-or-death situation, but some Minnesota community members said they saw it coming for Noor because he is Somali American.

"Officer Noor was going to jail no matter what because he's a black man who shot a white woman in the state of Minnesota," said John Thompson, an activist and friend of Philando Castile, a black man who was killed in 2016 by a Latino suburban police officer who was acquitted.

Alana Ramadan, an African American and Muslim who held a sign calling for the resignation of Hennepin County's head prosecutor, said the African American people she's spoken with knew Noor would be convicted.

"It's almost like there's no hope," she said.

The entire artical is worth reading.

Half the jury was black and he was convicted because racism...

I am guessing it will be a short stay, time served and parole will get him out sooner rather than later.

Pardon my naiveté, but how does one get convicted of multiple crimes for a single incident?
I will never apologize for being an American.

Two is one, one is none?

I wondered that myself

I was trying to figure that out too. Either it is murder or less right? Otherwise why not add assault too?

Black people: We hate cops! Cops kill innocent people all the time! They should be locked up!

Also black people: This jury was racist! They convicted the cop because he was black! He should be free!

I sort of envy people who can take diametrically opposed facts and spin them all into a single narrative supporting their cause. I mean, not for the double-standards and hypocrisy part, but that they can bend totally opposite things to sound kinda, sorta like they are related.

It is woven into the victim mentality. It's a crutch. Too bad that we haven't evolved to a place where that isn't immediately obvious to those employing the rhetoric.

There's too much money to be made in victimology to allow anyone to evolve. ;)

So, to help assure Noor spends time in prison, when do we march with signs and chants of "No Justice, No Peace". Isn't that the proper way to assure he "pays for his crime"?

I saw the lawsuit from the family of the victim seeking $50M. Will that be enough to stop the race based promotion policies?
