Relying on the Same Illogic That Trump Used to Ban Bump Stocks, a New Lawsuit Argues That Customizable Rifles Are Illegal
The plaintiffs say manufacturers broke the law by producing rifles that were compatible with accessories that facilitate rapid firing.

A new lawsuit against the manufacturers of guns used in the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting argues that AR-15-style rifles are illegal because they are compatible with bump stocks, which increase their rate of fire. The plaintiffs, parents of a woman who was murdered in the Las Vegas massacre, argue that bump stocks like the ones used in that attack convert semi-automatic rifles into illegal machine guns—a position that has been endorsed by the Trump administration. Therefore, they argue, AR-15s are themselves illegal, since the federal definition of machine guns includes firearms that "can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger."

This is why the NRA should have fought this harder instead of folding to trump.

Wouldn't matter. If the anti's hadn't used this, they would have just made up some other reason.

Why give them one more argument?

NRA was too busy buying suits and intern apartments.

You say that like it's a bad thing. Suits like that don't just buy themselves.

All joking aside, how much political capital should the NRA spend on a losing battle?

Despite of all it's warts, the NRA still instills fear into the hearts of the anti's. How much of that clout would NRA have lost if they opposed the ban and it was implemented anyway?

Is that where they are now? If they can only support causes that they know can be won, and can’t or won’t fight against actual infringements to the 2nd amendment, what good are they to us really?

Great, let the gun people fight amongst themselves. Saves the anti's the trouble of doing it themselves.

Well, if it gets to bizarre...law abiding people will just ignore the laws like the left does.

In what way?

In the way we expect those we support to protect our rights to actually use that money to protect our rights?

I guess so. To hear some tell it, we should probably just double our contributions to the NRA and not concern ourselves with what they do with the money. They’re the NRA, right? We wouldn’t even be able think about guns if it wasn’t for them!

Just don’t dig too deep into their actual track record, or compare it to that of any other pro-2A groups.
