New taxes on guns, ammunition OK’d by Tacoma City Council
“This type of regressive tax really impacts our ability to be competitive,” CEO Scott Dover of Tacoma-based manufacturer Aero Precision said during public comment. The company employs more than 400 people, the report said.

Last month, retail store manager Bruce Smith told Seattle's KOMO-TV that Tacoma's new taxes would drive businesses out of town.

“The owner of this company has already said if they pass the ordinance we will not be here when it starts," Smith told the station. "So as of January 1, this store will go away. It will be gone by then.”

Let's face it, as far as the left is concerned, gun related businesses leaving town or going out of business is seen as a positive not negative.

We should send OldmanFCSA out to Tacoma, and have him teach Reloading Classes out there. They can't tax, what isn't sold over the counter.

When the taxes take effect July 1, 2020, gun buyers will pay a $25 tax on each purchase, plus 2 cents per round on ammunition of .22 caliber or less, and 5 cents per round on all other types of ammunition, the News Tribune of Tacoma reported.

It won't be. It's Tacoma after all.

Aero should move to a gun friendly state and tell Washington state to piss off for doing this crap. Unfortunately, this will spread. Did they mention any special tax on reloading supplies? If not, time to learn it and stock up. Can see folks going to other areas not affected by this BS tax.

Even if they tax reloading supplies locally, I wonder how that would work if you ordered your supplies from an online supplier, such as Powder Valley, or one of the myriad of others? From my limited experience of buying reloading components lately, most online suppliers that are not in MN, do not charge tax.

The people purchasing a gun in Tacoma, will still get screwed with the $25 tax per gun, unless they go outside of Tacoma. I'd love to see shops open just outside the city limits
