423 Million guns in America

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/washington-secrets/atf-423-million-guns-in-america-1-2-per-person-8-1-billion-rounds-of-ammo-a-year

New federal data shows that there are 422.9 million firearms in circulation, or about 1.2 guns for every person in the country.

What’s more, despite years of criticism of modern “assault-style” rifles such as the AR-15 and AK-47, there are a record 17.7 million in private hands, proving that it is the most popular gun around.

And last year alone, the arms industry produced 8.1 billion rounds of ammunition.

So, 8.1 billion rounds for 423M guns makes... 19 rounds per gun, per year. Safe to say a whole lot of those firearms aren't getting used much.

I wonder what the Ammo count would be, if they had the ability to consider all of us that handload our own ammo? I believe they might possibly be dumbfounded :o

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the reloading market only accounts for 10-20% of the ammo market.
I will never apologize for being an American.

My ammo stores have been over several years. Cases of different rounds.

I’ve got cases or reloading components too.

I have not been able to shoot as much as I’d like but I still buy like I do.

It’s pretty clear to me when I look at my collection that if it’s 1.2 per person we definitely have some slackers out there. I just picked up 3 more LaRue lowers a week ago. 5 per person would be a good start.

This is the forum that when the news reports he had a dozen guns and several hundred rounds of ammo, we take up a collection because we can't understand how he got down to such a pitiful amount.

So if I say that there are only 6 guns under my roof, does the forum buy me 7 more just to get me above a dozen? 8-)
