Breaking: Virginia vows to shut down all gun ranges not owned by the state
According to House Bill 567, any indoor shooting range would be prohibited by law – UNLESS it was inside of a building owned by the state.

And any business owners who decided to defy the law could be facing up to a $100,000 fine and potential civil penalties.

Do most gun ranges have more than 50 employees?

It does not say they have to be employees of the range. Just that the building has less than 50 employees. So think of Bills in the strip mall. More than 50 employees in the building most are not Bills.

Geez, I can only hope that (1.) It doesn't go through due to public outcry, or (2.) that it is declared flatly unconstitutional, by the US Supreme Court if the VA Democrats insist on appealing it that far. And I hope that next election there is a huge, huge backlash at the polls by voters who've now seen what happens when progressives get a "mandate".

Mark Twain said it best: "No man's life, freedom or property are safe when the Legislature is in session".

Except he didn't. Though I agree with the statement.

He did, though, say that America has no native criminal class, except Congress.

I think they are targeting the NRA Range specifically with the "more than 50 employees" language.

Anyone hear if the Anti dream of lawless soulless, gun owners shooting up the Virginia State Capitol rally actually devolve into an armed standoff?

Saw the Democratic Governor wetting his pants on the news last night.

MSN was reporting that it did not. Who would have guessed that legal, licensed gun owners would be law abiding?

AOC (Alexandria Occasional-Cortex) was on a rant today about the Viginia situation:

The Democratic "Squad" member AOC also compared Monday's gun rights protest in Richmond, Va., to the protests that followed the deaths of Freddie Gray and Eric Garner and questioned what she thought was the lack of police presence at the commonwealth's capital.

"There's this gun rights protest that's going on in Richmond ... on MLK Day, but here's the image that has [stuck] with me the most about that is that when we go out and march for the dignity and the recognition of the lives of people like Freddie Gray and Eric Garner," Ocasio-Cortez explained, "the whole place is surrounded by police in riot gear without a gun in sight. And here are all of these people flying Confederate flags with semiautomatic weapons and there's almost no police officers at that protest."

So, AOC, what does that situation really tell you when you stop to think about it? It tells you that regular folks holding or owning guns aren't any type of a problem, nor is the gun itself. But wack-jobs that have zero respect for anything - other people, laws, rules, etc. - are a real problem even if they aren't armed. Kind goes to uphold the old adage that it ain't the tool, its the person.

This was perhaps the most astute observation of the day regarding the Virginia situation, even though she wasn't intending it to be so...
