Facebook Is Making Millions Off A Nationwide Gun Permit Scam
Concealed Online customers could be breaking the law without even knowing it.
One of Facebook’s biggest political advertisers is running an elaborate scheme to trick people into believing that a legal “loophole” allows them to qualify for and purchase concealed-carry permits online. The multimillion-dollar ad operation actually sells handgun safety certificates rather than legitimate permits, and urges people to buy them right away before Democrats intervene.

Facebook’s lax ad policies — and America’s notoriously loose gun laws — are working in tandem to create a dangerous situation where misinformed buyers could unwittingly end up carrying concealed weapons illegally, law enforcement experts warn.

This, of course, HuffPost, which means it's anti-gun nonsense.

But this really does look like a scam.

The direct URL is here:
https://www.concealedonline.com/

And it doesn't look problematic.
This site provides the training and documentation of competence with a handgun, which may qualify you for a Virginia State Resident or Non-Resident Concealed Carry Permit.

We are not associated with the State of Virginia; we are an independent training website.

Is there really a second landing page?

Where?

Repeat the lies often enough and eventually everyone will think they are true. The mantra of the antis and the left.

It should read ".....notoriously loosely, inconsistently enforced and prosecuted existing unconstitutional 2nd Amendments infringements.....".

We have a company in California offering training sufficient to obtain a Virginia carry permit, telling their customers that they need to get their permit from Virginia, and selling their training to people who do not live in states that recognize the VA permit.

Seems to me that the only possible crime here is misrepresentation.

And I'm not seeing that on the public website.

This site provides the training and documentation of competence with a handgun, which may qualify you for a Virginia State Resident or Non-Resident Concealed Carry Permit.

We are not associated with the State of Virginia; we are an independent training website.

Is HuffPost assuming that the gun owners who enroll in this training are as ignorant about guns and gun laws as they are?

Or is there something I'm not seeing?

Does the online course in fact qualify one to obtain an out-of-state permit from at least some states? If so it's legit; if it only offers their own in-house "certificate of competence" which "may" qualify one for a permit, then it's a much shakier deal.

I'd say they're just trying to foment outrage and angst among their ignorant readership.

Virginia accepted my Hunter Safety certificate as adequate proof of training, so it isn't hard to qualify.
