During his hearing, Canterbury was repeatedly asked about his personal views on major gun control issues, but he only responded by saying he couldn’t express views outside the Fraternal Order of Police’s positions.
Appears at first to be the devil we don't know.
'Googling' around the interwebs, this guy is not out friend. In the past, as head of FOP he's:
* supported Universal Background Checks,
* "Assault Weapon" ban,
* he wants law enforcement to have “better access to mental health records for keeping guns out of the wrong hands.”
* used his official position as President of FOP to oppose constitutional carry
* He testified in favor of Sonia (“the right to possess a gun is clearly not a fundamental right) Sotomayor for U.S. Supreme Court Justice.
Makes one wonder how, and why he got the nomination.
In fairness to the FOP, it all seems the various lodges do not march in lock step on the issue of gun control.
