Lawsuit Alleges that ATF’s Dangerous and Erroneous Interpretation Of Critical Gun Safety Law Allows Explosive Growth of Unregulated Firearms that are Increasingly Being used to Commit Gun Violence and other Crimes

Suit Seeks To Overturn and Correct ATF’s Current Misinterpretation of Gun Control Act and Confirm That Serial Numbers, Background Checks Are Required for the Core Components of Ghost Guns

NEW YORK — The cities of Syracuse, NY, San Jose, CA, Chicago, IL, and Columbia, SC, along with Everytown for Gun Safety, filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York today seeking a court order to compel the ATF to correct its dangerous misinterpretation of a critical gun safety law. The lawsuit alleges that the ATF’s misinterpretation has allowed the explosive growth of unregulated ‘ghost guns’ that are increasingly being used to commit gun violence and other crimes across the country. Everytown Law is lead counsel in the case, along with the law firm Cooley, LLP.

How does one sue the government to interpret a law the way they want it interpreted?
I will never apologize for being an American.

Part what is wrong with this litigious society. You may not have any chance of winning but you can sue for anything. It's how large companies have driven small companies out of business for years. The cost of defense is so high the little company goes down the tubes whether they where innocent or not. It's why your new lawn mower comes with a warning not to lift it for use as a hedge trimmer etc. It was easier to pay the dumbass and add a warning than to fight the case.

These types of cases should be tried by a judge or a grand jury before anything happens so it could be thrown out before anything gets going. Preferably a grand jury as at least more than one persons opinion counts.
If you're having second thoughts you're two ahead of most Democrats

It's easy.
Especially when the bureaucrats want to interpret it that way.

Find a compliant court, have the court issue a consent decree, have the government's prosecuting arm decline to appeal.

It's all very slick and easy, with none of that messy democracy stuff.

So a ghost gun......is that something Caspar would buy?

Boy, the Left is really really concerned about the crime on the streets ...well except for actually trying to control the crime on the streets .....

Who exactly do they think is going to enforce all the new rules and regulations? Will they deputize ANTIFA to become their compliance force.....maybe they should dispatch social workers to help deal with the problem.......
Oh, I know, the UN could beat us into submission.....if we fund it.......

Emails show Minneapolis mayor exempted NAACP from riot curfews - alpha news

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey gave National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) “staff and volunteers” permission to disobey curfew orders amid riots in his city.

Emails acquired by Alpha News as part of a larger public document dump related to the Minneapolis riots show that Frey “granted an exemption to NAACP from the 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew in Minneapolis for the dates of Friday, May 29 and Saturday May 30, 2020.” The document dump which unearthed these emails was prompted by a data practices request filed by Crime Watch Minneapolis....“The staff and volunteers will be keeping the peace and protecting community property and people in north Minneapolis,” states the email.

Around the same time Frey exempted the NAACP from the riot-related curfews, the group spawned a well-armed, self-described “elite security unit.” This group, known as the “Minnesota Freedom Fighters,” has routinely engaged in armed patrols around the city....It also has been claimed that the NAACP assumed “police powers” and conducted a “vehicle checkpoint” while armed amid the civil unrest in early June....
