Iowa Adopts Constitutional Carry
Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds has signed a law allowing people to buy and carry handguns in Iowa without a permit, fulfilling a longtime goal of gun rights advocates.

The law, which advocates call “constitutional carry”, will take effect July 1.

Such a feel good post.

Shows that when your government respects you and acknowledges that 99% of the state's population is not only law abiding, but also trustworthy -- the Legislature can do the right thing.

Great News!

It just needs to come a little bit north now.

I'm not opposed to the extension of Constitutional Carry, by any means, but what we really need is to flip those remaining eight may-issue states to shall-issue.

Those are tough flips and not much Minnesota residents can do about those.

I'd say there's about as much chance of CA and the remaining New England states passing shall issue as there is of our petty little dictator of a governor signing a Constitutional carry bill.
I will never apologize for being an American.

The anti-gun states insist on "urban exceptionalism"- the idea that guns may be okay in Cornfield County but big cities need to ban guns to reduce crime. Frankly I'm not sure gun bans work anymore even as "rousting" laws that give the police something to arrest gangbangers for. Illinois for example might as well eliminate all gun restrictions because Chicago literally couldn't get any worse; the criminals have all the guns they need.

When did gun bans work?

As one of several rousting laws- "loitering", "open bottle", etc.- when the police needed an excuse to arrest a 'Hoodie. Stop and frisk and see what contraband turns up. I mean it's not as if they ever expected to actually get rid of criminals' guns, it was just a convenient tool.
